Brandy’s love of reading and writing started from a young age. While her younger brother dove into sports, she was often on the sidelines, nose buried in a thick fantasy novel. Because of this, she quickly taught herself to speed read – a skill that came in handy during her school-age years and beyond. Brandy Greeley entered her short stories and poems into several writing competitions and county fairs, and though she knew her dream was to be an author, she didn’t seriously consider it until she graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a double major in English and Creative Writing.
Oftentimes called a ‘nerd’ and ‘teacher’s pet’, she preferred to spend every available moment of her middle school and high school years in the library, where she gobbled up every book she could get her hands on, as well as finding quiet moments to work on her stories.
She had a few traumatic, life-changing experiences growing up, including a near death experience at the age of fifteen and a decade-long toxic friendship that left her with deep, emotional scars, which she then turned into plot and dialogue for her stories. Her characters became deeper, more fleshed out and intriguing as she struggled to find herself again, which meant that she started to leave pieces of herself in each character she created in the hopes of finding a voice and style of writing that was uniquely hers.
Brandy Greeley lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two small dogs, spends most of her day in sweatpants and loves to read, play computer games, cuddle with her pups and shop when she’s not busy working on her next novel. An addicted fan of Facebook and Twitter, you can find her snooping around both sites daily.
